A Friday Afternoon

September 15, 2007

After a horrible encounter with this region’s dangerous young wine (called burcak in Czech, der Sturm in German, or a Terrible Hangover in English) last nightPrague and the Vltava River I woke to the first warm and sunny day in several weeks. I however did not enjoy it until Rachal and Molly came to rescue me from my cheap alcohol induced misery around 1 pm.

We wandered from our dorm in Prague’s Vinohrady district down the hill and napped in a park for several blissful hours. Winding our way down to the river we decided that after a quick bite at the American Ex-pat favorite Bohemia Bagel to climb to the top of Petrin Hill that lies adjacent to the Prague Castle.

We found a playground, an orchard and at the top Prague’s own mini-replica of the Eiffel Tower. This city is odd but amusing and I think I rather like it.
