Five days until Dublin

October 14, 2007

“But real adventures… do not happen to people who remain at home: they must be sought abroad.” -James Joyce, Dubliners

“Be happy while you’re living, for you’re a long time dead.”  – Scottish proverb

We leave for Ireland and Scotland in five days for fall break and I am getting quite excited. I sat and read through a few of the stories in James Joyce’s Dubliners last week in the library at NYU. Thought the above quote was appropriate for my time abroad. However, I think that many adventures are to be had at home too. They are just more colorful and obscure when in a foreign land. And the Scottish proverb is one that I’ve heard before and really liked.
